Disney Around the World

(Last Updated On: July 24, 2019)

One of my most recent bucket list accomplishments I have completed is to visit all of the Disney around the world. There are six Disney resorts around the world and I have now been to every single one at least once! Ever since I was young, I have been obsessed with Disney. Thus, I knew one day I needed to go to all of the Disney parks around the world.

Disneyland: The Original

Luckily being a native Southern Californian I have been to Disneyland hundreds of times. The Disneyland resort consists of two parks: Disneyland and Disney’s California Adventure. Disneyland is a fantastic experience because it is the original, so it had the classic vision that Walt always wanted. As soon as a person walks in, they get that real Disney feeling and see what Walt saw on opening day. There are so many classic attractions to ride such as Pirates of the Caribbean (the last ride Walk designed), the Jungle Cruise (a corny journey through the jungles of the world), the Haunted Mansion (the ghosts are always dying to meet new people) and the various Fantasyland Dark Rides (kids rides yet can be rather scary for young ones).

The entrance to California Adventure is a journey back into 1920s California. Once inside the park, the lands are themed to different areas of California or to Pixar movies. When it originally opened, every area was solely about California. Modern times have included a shift towards the Pixar and Marvel movies, especially with the recent announcement of a new “Pixar Pier” area. Top rides include Radiator Springs Racers (a Cars themed racing ride), Guardians of the Galaxy -Mission Breakout (a dropping ride based on the Guardians of the Galaxy movies), and California Screamin’ (a roller coaster soon to be changed to an Incredibles theme).

Disney World: A Whole Separate World

Disney World is a 25,000-acre area full of adventure and excitement. Once you are in the area, it truly is a secluded world full of Disney. Disney World consists of four theme parks: The Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom. It also has two water parks: Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon. The newest update is the Disney Springs area, with upscale shops and restaurants (previously Downtown Disney). Visitors could spend over a week here just exploring the thirty-six hotels. Unique rides include Expedition Everest, Test Track, Mission: Space, and Rock N Roller Coaster. In Expedition Everest a yeti chases you through the Himalayas. With Test Track, riders design their own car, and then “test” it out on the road. Mission: Space simulates what a mission to Mars would be like. Rock N Roller Coaster is an indoor coaster that launches you from 0 to 57 mph in 2.8 seconds. Make sure to take a stroll through the even countries showcased in EPCOT. Overall, Disney World provides a unique experience of being totally immersed in Disney.

EuroDisney: The Least Crowded

Parisians are not about Disney. Therefore, EuroDisney is one of the lesser crowded Disney parks. However, just because the Parisians are not excited about this Disney park does not mean it is a bad park! The EuroDisney resort consists of two parks: Disneyland Paris and Walt Disney Studios. Again, Disneyland Paris is the classic Disney park that included the common lands and attractions of the Disney parks. Something unique about the Space Mountain at Disneyland Paris is it includes an inversion and a launch on a hill. Unlike any other Disney park, Disneyland Paris also has an Indiana Jones themed Roller Coaster. The Haunted Mansion is also a bit creepy unlike the ones in the United States parks. At Disney Studios, visitors can find a Finding Nemo themed roller coaster, a Ratatouille dark ride, and Rock N Roller Coaster (much like its Disney World counterpart).

Tokyo Disney: Where Disney meets Japanese culture

Tokyo Disney may be my favorite out of the 6 Disney parks. The rides are spectacular, the snacks are tasty, and the people are amazing. Tokyo Disney Resort consists of two parks: Tokyo Disneyland and Tokyo Disney Sea. Out of all the Disney parks, Tokyo Disney has some of the most technologically advanced rides. There are many unique rides that are not at any other Disney Park. Tokyo Disneyland is set up like the tradition Disney park with the same lands found in the other parks. The Winnie the Pooh ride showcases what Tokyo Disney is all about. This trackless ride spins you around the Hundred Acre Woods with Pooh and friends. Each ride is a unique experience depending on what track your vehicle takes.

Tokyo Disney has the best snack out of all the parks. From the variety of popcorn flavors to the steamed buns, you will not go hungry at all! What completes your Tokyo Disney experience is the people. The Japanese are some of the friendliest and kindest people I have ever met. Tokyo Disney is a popular place for the Japanese to visit. They go all out in their outfits. From a couple to a large group of friends, they dress to match in the most Disney-rific outfits you can imagine. As people enter the park, the workers have to hold signs that say “walk, don’t run” all over so the people do not run over each trying to get to their first ride. Best of all, when people are waiting in line, there is no pushing and shoving. Everyone lines up in lines orderly. The cast members are always happy, smiling, and friendly to all.

Hong Kong Disney: China meets the West

Hong Kong Disneyland is the smallest of the Disney parks. However, do not let the size deter you! There were still plenty of fun attractions to visit. Their Jungle Cruise is the most entertaining of all the parks. It uses some special effects to make it unique. Located in Tomorrowland is an Iron Man section with a motion simulator Iron Man-themed ride where the audience helps Iron Man save Hong Kong. The Big Grizzly Runaway Mine Cars ride is similar to Thunder Mountain in the other Disney parks, with a few twists and turns in it. Lastly, one of the highlights of the park is Mystic Manor. This is their version of the Haunted Mansion and much more lighthearted.

Shanghai Disney: Authentically Disney, Distinctly Chinese

Shanghai Disneyland is where Disney meets China. It’s “authentically Disney, distinctly Chinese.” The layout and feel are quite different from the other Disney parks. It does not consist of the typical lands of the other Disney parks. Guests enter on Mickey Avenue and then proceed onto the Gardens of Imaginations. The highlight of the park is the Tomorrowland attraction Tron Lightcycle Power Run. This immerses you in the world of Tron where guests get to race through the Tron world on Lightcycles. The Pirates of the Caribbean is different than the other parks. It is a new adventure based on the movie series. The rider feels like they are part of the action. Shanghai Disney also has some really great teas.

Things I learned completing Disney around the world

  • No matter which Disney park you are at, they all have that Disney feel that make you feel like a little kid.
  • Each Disney park appeals to the culture of the country it is in to help attract local visitors. Guests should learn about the culture before attending.
  • Do not just rush from ride to ride. Take time to enjoy the scenery and food of each park.

I’ve only been to Disney once, when I was 9, and I absolutely loved it! My parents saved up for ages to take me and my sister to Florida!
