Otavalo is known for its vast market full of Ecuadorian goods. It is located about 55 miles north~ of Quito. I stayed in Otavalo at the Puertolago Country Inn on my recent trip to Ecuador. This was the first evening we spent outside of Quito, and it was the most fantastic experience. This gorgeous hotel is located on the shore of San Pablo Lake. The view from our room showcased the Imbabura Volcano. Staying at the Puertolago Country Inn is the best choice during your trip to Ecuador.

What to Do When Staying at the Puertolago Country Inn
At the inn, visitors had many activities to keep busy. When the weather is warmer, there are various types of boats to take out on the lake as well as water skis. Along the water, there is plenty of outdoor seating to enjoy the fresh air or watch the smoke from the volcano.
Throughout the property are numerous gardens to stroll through that will eventually lead you to the neighboring property with llamas. Behind the rooms, is a large children’s play area complete with playground equipment and a mini zip line. There are also several sports courts available for use. Inside contains a game room that includes a pool table and a tv. There is also a restaurant that served delicious food.
My favorite feature was the swing that went out over the lake. It was a relaxing place to enjoy the scenery and made for some fabulous pictures.
If you are looking for a quiet place to get away, Puertolago Country Inn is a perfect location. I enjoyed the activities around the property and loved the view from our room. It was the perfect place to start our tour.
