What is the Jordan Pass?
The Jordan Pass is like an attraction pass for a city, but it is good for the entire country! If you plan on visiting Petra, the Jordan Pass is worth buying. The cost of a ticket to Petra is almost as much as what you will spend on the Jordan Pass.

What Comes with the Jordan Pass?
The Jordan Pass comes with three main things. First, the waiving of Tourist Visa entry fees if staying for more than 4 days. If you are not staying in Jordan for more than 4 days, then you cannot buy the Jordan Pass.
Next, you get entrance to over 40 attractions across Jordan plus a downloadable digital brochure. You can see the included attractions on the Jordan Pass here. Lastly, you get admission into Petra for 1-3 Days depending on which ticket you buy.
Before you decide if the Jordan Pass is worth buying, you will want to figure out your itinerary and then project the costs of those attractions. If you do not go to Petra or if you are part of a tour group, the Jordan Pass might not be worth buying.

Cost of the Jordan Pass
You have three options of passes: A 1, 2, or 3-day pass. The prices are as follows.
- 1 Day at Petra: 70 JD
- 2 Days at Petra: 75 JD
- 3 Days at Petra: 80 JD
You can also add on a ticket to Bethany Beyond Jordan for an additional 8 JD (regularly 12 JD). The Jordan Pass also includes a ticket to a Train Ride Adventure through Wadi Rum, but you need to make the reservation at the time of booking.

Why Should I Buy the Jordan Pass?
There are a few things to think about to see if the Jordan Pass is worth buying. Ask yourself the following questions to help you decide. First, are you going to Petra? Next, are you going to be in Jordan for more than four days? Finally, ask yourself, am I going to visit other sites on the attraction list?
If you have answered yes to the first two questions, then probably, the Jordan Pass is worth buying. Answering yes to the third question just makes it even more worth it. If you answered no to the first two questions, you might not want to buy the Jordan Pass.

How Do I Use the Jordan Pass?
The Jordan Pass is valid for 12 months from the time of purchase but two weeks from the first day it is scanned. At each attraction, they scan your pass. You can choose to print it out or show the barcode on your phone. If you choose to add Bethany Beyond Jordan, it will specify that on your pass.

So Is the Jordan Pass Worth Buying?
If you are visiting Petra and staying in Jordan for more than 4 days, then in my opinion, the Jordan Pass is worth buying. Let’s do a cost breakdown and comparison of the Jordan Pass and Petra Tickets.
| Days in Petra | Cost of Jordan Pass | Cost of Petra Ticket |
| 1 | 70 JD | 50 JD |
| 2 | 75 JD | 55 JD |
| 3 | 80 JD | 60 JD |
Everyone must also pay 40 JD for a visa on arrival at the Jordan airport. If you have the Jordan Pass, it is already included in your pass fee. All you have to do is show your Jordan Pass at the airport.

Then let’s factor in other costs for Jordan. These are the places we visited on our one week Jordan itinerary, but you may add even more to your trip, depending on where you go and how long you are staying.
- Jerash: 10 JD
- Amman Citadel: 3 JD
- Roman Theater: 2 JD
- Lowest Point Museum: 2 JD
- Aqaba Castle: 3 JD
- Total: 20 JD
Overall, if we did not buy the Jordan Pass, we would have spent 115 JD on our visa, Petra, and other attractions versus the 75 JD we spent on the pass (we spent two days in Petra).

My Thoughts on the Jordan Pass
Even once you just factor in the visa cost plus the Petra ticket, you are already paying more than you would for the Jordan Pass! Then add in at least another 20 JD for attractions across Jordan, and you will save so much money. All of these savings show why the Jordan Pass is worth buying.
Make sure to visit all the fun places in Jordan such as Aqaba, the Dead Sea and stay at some of the best resorts, Wadi Rum, and plan on taking some day trips from Amman.
